PHILIPPINE SUPREME COURT ON COMELEC RULING
PHILIPPINE SUPREME COURT MUST STILL MAKE IT RIGHT
I did not join the bandwagon to criticize the supreme court for their decision on the comelec ruling regarding appointive officials running for the 2010 election few days ago in deference to the high court as an institution.
I believe the supreme court will still make it right and maintain it’s sterling record. We will know in a few weeks whether President GMA appointing power has already taken effect or should we say “taken its toll”.

AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA ON AFGANISTAN POLICY
Dear Mr. President;
I wait eagerly for your announcement on your Afghanistan strategy but I cannot ease the anxiety that comes along with it. If you ask me, I’m not strictly a pro or a con because I am not privy to the details and secrets of world affairs. However, I stand up and speak up on behalf of billions of common man who are affected with your decision. It is a fact that the decisions of 2 previous presidents bush to escalate war in the middle east has caused irreparable damage not only on American people but to all people around the world specially the ordinary and poor people who are unable to absorb the consequences of this war. Price of petroleum increased tremendously during the bushes administration and with it the price of all food items and many essential commodities.
I am hoping that you did not listen to advisers, mainly remnants of President George Bush strategists and a few newly installed advisers recommended by campaign contributors.
The world can no longer absorb more shocks from a new escalation in war and plead your wise judgment so help you God we pray in Jesus name. Amen.

AMPATUAN MASSACRE OF 57 INNOCENT PEOLE
There is only one way to go for this incident. That the PNP should be on the trail of hot pursuit. The killers should be captured and arrested. Anyway, how can a hundred men simply escape that easily. All other way will lead to a whitewash.
My unsolicited advice to the media:
Do not be misled by the so called investigation of the PNP. If you agree, things will be complicated and more rights will be afforded the killers. They will be called suspects and that's the end of the story or should i say the beginning of at least 5 to 10 years of litigation. Ask your lawyers or your legal advisers. They know what i mean.

CHIZ ESCUDERO IS NOW ON THE RIGHT PATH
I am so glad that Senator Chiz Escudero is now on the right path. He did not succumbed to the evil voices and whispers around him. Many of them are lakas kampi emissaries. Anyway, they probably did not offer the one billion pesos required to run a campaign. As they say, put the money where the mouth is. Without Chiz running for the presidency, the chances of lakas kampi for the presidency become dimmer.

I don’t really how to begin. I’m neither a master of economics nor a multi-millionaire who has sufficient credentials or wealth to espouse my ideas regarding business and economics. I am doing it anyway in behalf of the infinitesimal man - to tell the world why the status quo is flawed. Let us end the lies and deception behind “the purported natural economic laws”. These supposed to be “basic principles of economics” should be abolished or sidelined. I don’t know how much burden or loss this has caused the common man ever since Adam Smith preached his theories more than 200 years back.
With due respect to Adam Smith, He is an economist and a writer. I should say he is a prolific writer, having spun tales and theories behind only two words: greed and pride. I am sorry that I cannot adhere to his theory of “laissez-faire”. For me, a free market does no longer exist at this age or time. There is no free market. The market is always inclined on the side of the rich or the powerful. It is always in favor of the capitalist. All businessmen will always think of a way to earn more. Money, money and more money: this is the nature of man. It is greed that fans the need for more profit. This is as natural as it gets. Nowadays, I could not morally accept something like “demand and supply”. The forces behind them (behind the two forces) are so lopsided that I could not make a sound and fair mathematical equation relating the two.
We see this everywhere. The poor consumers do not have any strength or power to counter anything leveled against them. We can cite thousands and thousand of instances or situations where this is true. I will only mention a few cases and leave it to the common man to cite their experiences. Anyone who wants to share their experience or knowledge may send or email their comments.
I will cite an example where even I could not believed happened but it happened anyway. This is the case of Roche and other big Vitamin manufacturers who established a cartel among themselves to the detriment of the consuming public. You should know that it is the common man who is the end-user of vitamins and when this cartel slaps an unfair price. The infinitesimal man has no power to resist it. The American government has since discovered and penalized Roche, BASF and other companies for their malicious act. I love the American justice system. It really works. However, in this case, we, the common men who were directly harmed from their action did not benefit from the retribution. Sadly, the cartel operated worldwide but the supposed justice was not felt worldwide.
Another unfortunate case is the price of petroleum. This is also a cartel of the highest degree hiding behind the so called world market price of petroleum or a “commodity” as they call it. I will not expound on this. I believe there are articles that expose their schemes. In the future, I will make my ideas known on the stock and commodities market.
I often hear the phrase “people who has less in life should have more in law”. From the house of legislature to the halls of justice, everyone pays inutile lip service to such a powerful and sacred statement. If you ask me, all I want is more action. I need to see more concrete steps that will really improve the lot of the poor and in common parlance, “alleviate their sufferings”. However, everything seems to be mere propaganda. Ever since the time people learned how to organize and this includes the passing of laws (legislature), I believed everything that has been created favored the rich or powerful. I am not a master of laws but can anyone tell me if you know of a law that sayeth: The poor shall not hunger or thirst or maybe the poor shall eat three times a day and the state shall make sure he does. So people, can anyone research this and let me know. Try doing this for the last 2 or 3 centuries.
I will also cite briefly on the case of the Philippines and how the big petroleum companies manipulates government policy in order to favor their position.
The government created the so called oil deregulation law which was supposed to benefit the public. In reality, this is just a cover in order for petroleum companies to gain more profit. The law becomes a schematic way where they can price all they want and legalize the status quo. The cartel is still very much evident and the infinitesimal man cannot do anything but to be compliant. Bite the bullet could be an appropriate term for this experience. I am sorry. The government is not stupid. It is just corrupt. Energy Secretary Reyes is not stupid.
May the wrath of God fell upon those who oppress the poor! What’s more! Greed heaped upon injustice. Let us zoom in to a lonely place in Bulacan, Philippines. It is that stretch of McArthur Highway along the municipalities in Bulacan. Any “global” businessman would find this incredible if not unbelievable. This is it. Do you know that gasoline stations along the highway sell their products at about P5.-/liter or P6.-/liter higher. I don’t know how they can justify this. I can’t even imagine how in conscience they can do this. Hauling gasoline could cost P0.50/liter at the most but people the infinitesimal man can do nothing about it. They do it. This is oppression to the limit. Do you know that there are several thousand jeepneys plying this route. Many of them would suddenly stop by a station. Whoops! There is not enough gasoline and they will buy 2 to 3 liters at a time and doing this 5 or 6 times a day. Do you know what this means? This means that every time a jeepney driver passes by, you are robbing him P10.00 to P20.00 and you robbed him 5 or 6 times a day. This is the standard Philippine economics and sad to say it is prevalent in everyday life.

I almost fell from my chair when the team up was announced yesterday of Manny and Loren but actually less the NPC. After statements from Rexlon, I realized that the NPC is still hanging on the balance. From the looks of it, I can see the evil machinations of a few strategists in Lakas – kampi who wants to try this line of action. Divide and Rule. As of now, its Noynoy. So they will strengthen Manny Villar by giving Loren to cut a few points from Noynoy. Their theory and vote estimate is probably like this:

The Bureau of Internal Revenue is now a new political and intelligence arena
The Bureau of Internal Revenue:
As an analyst or as a student of business management, the BIR is one of the most challenging to think about. Let us say, I will leave the issue on how to “fix” the BIR temporarily to the shelves and let MBA, BA or economics students enjoy their thesis or term papers.
I would just like to comment on recent events at the BIR. The BIR Commissioner resigns and had a graceful exit of sorts. This is understandable. You can end it this way or you can challenge your masters and face the slew of corruption charges against you.
I am prone to believe some of the insinuations going around when I heard the news of the BIR commissioner resigning. The Commissioner resigned because he can not in conscience implement instructions given him by Malacanang strategists.
One thing that really provokes my anger is for intelligent people or strategists that group themselves and cheat, lie or even rob the people. I call this fraud, deceit or robbery in band. I am new in the area of journalism but from this day onward, I am taking it as my obligation to expose anyone or anything that is not in the way of righteousness.
This is the situation in the BIR as I see it now. It’s only a simple issue of implementing the order to control expenditure of the politicians. The opposition sensed this. Actually the opposition probably had information from the resigned bureau chief about this. Anyone who understands taxation can easily understand this. The sole purpose of this strategy is to monitor the opposition and harass everyone in relation to this: donors, supporters, suppliers and many more. The BIR can now harass a politician for not following the order and may subsequently file tax evasion charges.
To our dear strategists at Malacanang - do not think that everyone is stupid. I believe many people are a lot more intelligent than you are. They are just passive and probably apathetic. I am therefore taking the advocacy to call on intelligent people specially my fellow man at U.P. , Ateneo, de la Salle and other institutions of higher learning. Stand up and be counted. I happened to hear the new OIC when he was first interviewed at the radio. He made it so casual to announce the move to tax politician. First few hours at the helm and he had this ingenious idea. When ask how much money he can raise. He said about P1.4 Billion. Asked again how much expenditure is this. He said he will get the calculator first and replied about P20 Billion. I am not someone who would belittle any person but I can tell that Mr. Torres probably never thought about this measure beforehand and I assure him he will not get anything positive about it except a better cash flow. I will tell the Filipino masses that this is not a tax at all. Only Congress can adapt any tax measures and the BIR has no power to make any tax measure. The 5% withholding tax will result to no improvement to the net collection or the BIR. The suppliers will just use the amount paid to credit their accounts with the BIR. The amount will be used to pay for sales taxes or taxes on net profit. This is why it is easy to see that this measure is meant to monitor politicians who are running.
I am really sorry for the new OIC at BIR, Mr. Joel Tan Torres. He had only 2 ways to go. To disobey the boss and end his career or follow them, probably enrich his self and end up in hell. The only advice I can give him is to pray for God’s guidance and have a way out of this.
Will we see the BIR actively engaging in politics? Heheh. The Acronym BIR will then have a new twist -Bureau of Intelligence and Retaliation. Me ganun.
As an analyst or as a student of business management, the BIR is one of the most challenging to think about. Let us say, I will leave the issue on how to “fix” the BIR temporarily to the shelves and let MBA, BA or economics students enjoy their thesis or term papers.
I would just like to comment on recent events at the BIR. The BIR Commissioner resigns and had a graceful exit of sorts. This is understandable. You can end it this way or you can challenge your masters and face the slew of corruption charges against you.
I am prone to believe some of the insinuations going around when I heard the news of the BIR commissioner resigning. The Commissioner resigned because he can not in conscience implement instructions given him by Malacanang strategists.
One thing that really provokes my anger is for intelligent people or strategists that group themselves and cheat, lie or even rob the people. I call this fraud, deceit or robbery in band. I am new in the area of journalism but from this day onward, I am taking it as my obligation to expose anyone or anything that is not in the way of righteousness.
This is the situation in the BIR as I see it now. It’s only a simple issue of implementing the order to control expenditure of the politicians. The opposition sensed this. Actually the opposition probably had information from the resigned bureau chief about this. Anyone who understands taxation can easily understand this. The sole purpose of this strategy is to monitor the opposition and harass everyone in relation to this: donors, supporters, suppliers and many more. The BIR can now harass a politician for not following the order and may subsequently file tax evasion charges.
To our dear strategists at Malacanang - do not think that everyone is stupid. I believe many people are a lot more intelligent than you are. They are just passive and probably apathetic. I am therefore taking the advocacy to call on intelligent people specially my fellow man at U.P. , Ateneo, de la Salle and other institutions of higher learning. Stand up and be counted. THE NATIONALIST PEOPLE’S COALITION OR THE NPC
CHIZ ESCUDERO:
Senator Chiz Escudero, who in his young age, does not seem to have the right perception about politics. In fact, he does not even understand the party which be belonged. In order for him to be a standard bearer of the NPC, he should first be a confidante of Ambassador Danding Cojuangco. Is Senator Escudero too young to understand the meaning of the acronym NPC. NPC means New Politics of Cojuangco. After Former President Ferdinand Marcos, Ambassador Cojuangco’s only concern is to protect his hundred billions in asssets and investments. He is now careful not to be too close for comfort especially to anyone who is in power. However, Ambassador Cojuangco does not only have the best mind in business but he is also one of the best politicians of our time. His strategy is to pick the winner, negotiate the concessions and assure the win. I believe he had not made a mistake so far since his return. The picture is not clear as of now who the winner will be for the coming 2010 election. As I see it, Ambassador Cojuangco has only one candidate for presidency and that is Gibo Teodoro. Ambassador Cojuangco has specially placed Gibo in his current position in order to have indirect control the “ruling coalition”. But in its dismal state, this coalition can’t win anything. Even a 10 or 15% pulling power can’t help President Gloria right now. The NPC therefore is not ready to finalize an arrangement with them.
Senator Chiz Escudero is a fast thinker and a faster talker. He may have some good intentions for the Filipino people but he is young and should take his time. It’s not time to let people push you to the wall for the presidency. If you love the Filipino people more than yourself, you should rally behind the Liberal party. Run for the senate if you want or just ask for a post in the future cabinet so that you can show the people what you got. People do not really know what you can do. If you are really intelligent, you should not be misled. The administration’s only strategy now is to divide and rule. They will even give you funding to run for the presidency. If it is worth it, they will even ask anyone that’s worth something or even Senator Lacson to run. As long as they can snatch some votes away from the opposition, they will do it. It will be a big help for the administration.
There are several scenarios and the final event will depend on Ambassador Cojuangco’s perception.
Scene 1:
The first option is for Cojuangco or the NPC to side with the Liberal Party or Noynoy – Mar tandem. Obviously, this is the team to beat but this negotiation will result to the least concessions for Ambassador Cojuangco. I hope, for the sake of the Filipino people, he does not ask for too many as to jeopardize the negotiation. We need an incorruptible team who could shy away with usual Philippine politics in order to end corruption and poverty in the Philippines. This is my advice to Ambassador Cojuangco: be content with your 100 Billions. I assure you, a few hundred B’s will not assure you a place in heaven. Start unloading to the poor, too much load is heavy.
Scene 2:
Cojuangco will side with Senator Manny Villar who is considered the most worthy contender. In such case, Cojuangco would even field Senator Loren for a Villar – Loren team up. This has a 40% chance of happening. It depends on Mr. Cojuangco’s computation. Although this scenario would give Ambassador Cojuangco the most concessions, I think this is also considered the riskiest because if Villar loses the presidency inspite of the tie-up. Then Ambassador Cojuangco might lose San Miguel and maybe more.
Will Ambassador Cojuangco make a mistake? Let’s waist and see. For me, I don’t think so.
If NPC chooses this option and win, it will be a businessman’s Philippines. This will mean more to the businessmen and probably less to the Filipino masses. We will then remember the popular adage: business as usual.
SCENE 3:
If Senator Villar can’t convince NPC, it can be a Villar – Chiz team up.
Some tips for Senator Loren:
For Senator Loren, I have only a few statements. I can see from within but I can’t really see through the heart. This is what I can say about the situation. Assuming she does not lie. She probably does not have a direct access to Mr. Cojuangco. This is also the situation with Senator Chiz. She should not feel pained with the current developments with Senator Chiz. She said she gave way to Senator Chiz for the presidency. I should say that Senator Chiz even became his savior. Senator Loren is probably better placed right now. Don’t say “na ikaw ang nagparaya”. I am sure that you would have suffered the same fate. If you need the NPC, or need Ambassador Cojuangco’s billion, just stay put and wait for the computations and final decision of Ambassador Cojuangco. Just be loyal and you will achieve the peak of your political career. Like Former President Marcos, Ambassador Cojuangco values loyalty above all. With proven loyalty, he can make a driver a billionaire.

Anyway, for every one concerned. It’s November, the last month to place your bets. For Danding and the NPC, they can have more time to make their figures right. As of now, he has only Senator Loren for VP ticket as a front. Heheh. Wais ba!
